About Classes

Getting Started: Is there an application process?

Yes, see application process.

Financial Aid: Does it apply?

YES! We are an academic program at each of the schools so your financial aid & scholarships apply.

Academics: How do the classes work?

Classes are seminar style: one day a week for three hours each. The classes meet in the U4C classroom at St. Paul’s Lutheran. The professors come to us from the respective colleges or are expert practitioners in their field.

Internship: How do I get assigned to a site?

When you apply for the U4C program you fill out an application that asks you to share the gifts, abilities, and passions that God has given you and where you see Him leading you after college. From those answers the faculty member overseeing internships and Executive Director will make every effort to work with you to find a non-profit organizations/ministries that will help you get equipped for where God is leading you.  If you already have an internship site in mind, that is great, too.

About U4C Housing

Bring a mattress pad, sheets and blankets. The beds have extra long mattresses that are 39” x 80”. Regular single sheets do not fit these mattresses, so bring extra-long sheets or just use a flat sheet.

Although each room has adequate overhead lighting, students may prefer to bring a desk lamp and/or floor lamp as needed. Halogen lamps are allowed only if they have a wire guard to prevent fire hazards.

There will be one phone located in the common area of the house for U4C students to use for local calls. The telephone will not have long-distance service, so students are encouraged to bring long-distance calling cards or use their own cell phone.

Computer & Internet

All rooms in the house have been wired for internet access. In order to access the internet students will need to provide their own computer and wireless internet card. U4C will provide technical assistance to students to insure access to the internet.

Each bathroom will be provided with shower curtains, floor mats, and a wastepaper basket. Students are encouraged to bring their own towels, robe and shower caddy.

Bring clothes hangers, waste paper basket, any bookshelves or drawers for storage and organization. Please use personal items to decorate, as you will be unable to paint your room.

There will be one community television/vcr/dvd; however, if you desire to have your own in your room, please use it in way that doesn’t distract from community.

Miscellaneous Items

Clothes basket, laundry detergent, musical instruments may be a plus, alarm clock, stereo, and other personal items.

Stolen Goods

U4C, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Housing Plus are not responsible for valuable personal items lost or stolen. Please make sure that you have insurance coverage on them.

Things to Avoid

Please DO NOT bring your own microwave oven, popcorn poppers, refrigerator, other small kitchen appliances, pets of any kind, or firearms.
